Direct admission allows students to start taking NCSU credit classes upon enrollment.

Conditional admission requires students to study in an on-campus ESL program with levels 4-6 for English study, before enrolling in NCSU credit classes. Students will be placed in the appropriate level during orientation and will be allowed to start their credit classes after completing Level 6 with satisfactory performance and meeting all other exit criteria. The length of the language study depends on individual students’ progress in the program, some students have completed the program in as little as 1 semester; the average timeframe is 2 semesters.

*In addition to achieving a total score of 85, candidates must achieve a score of 18 or higher in each of the sub scores to receive direct admission.
**In addition to achieving an overall score of 6.5, candidates must achieve a score of 6.5 or higher in each of the IELTS bands to receive direct admission.
***In addition to achieving an overall score of 62, candidates must achievea score of 53 or higher in each of the sub scores to receive direct admission.
