Student Voices: Art Festival Volunteer Experience

I liked Sparkcon because I can show what's special about Chinese culture for American people. You can share your own country's culture to Americans, which is a happy thing. I'm proud of being Chinese here. Helping others is happiness. The whole time, I always work on the tattoos for the peoples arms, its very tiring but meaningful to introduce Chinese culture to them. And I'm happy to volunteer, it can make you have more opportunities to connect with Americans, which will improve my speaking and communication skills. - Ronji "Neo" Yang

What I really liked about Sparkcon is that it's about Chinese culture so we can share our culture like writing and giving tattoos to people with nice words that are meaningful. The second part is that 4 of my friends comewith me, and I did tattoos for them and they really liked it. My friend told me she loves it and is happy to see it everyday, I did my name for her tattoo and it's now a memory she has.

A lot of international students don't have a chance to communicate with American people, but this is a really good chance to talk to, open your hear, communicate with, ask them if we can help and do some tattoo, improve our English and even make some friends. You know its great to give us some authentic experience. - Yue "Gabby" Xiong
