High school students looking ahead to university study in the US
Why Our Classes Are Unique
Project Based Learning Approach to Language Learning in Three Phases
Phase 1: Launching the Project
Students write in a curiosity journal.
Each project is driven by student interest and initial questions
Phase 2: Developing the Project
Students read fiction and non-fiction related to their topic. They learn to take notes that extend their learning. Teachers coach students to ask complex questions that don’t have easy answers.
Students write and present their thoughts in a cohesive 2-4 page essay and meets US Common Core Standards
Phase 3: Sharing Expertise and Going Public
Students present their research and thesis in a 2–4-minute video presentation
How Our Classes Benefit Students

All writing strategies and techniques are applicable to current and future writing tasks
