Why Our Classes Are Unique

  • Project Based Learning Approach to Language Learning in Three Phases

    Phase 1: Launching the Project

    • Students write in a curiosity journal.

    • Each project is driven by student interest and initial questions

  • Phase 2: Developing the Project

    • Students read fiction and non-fiction related to their topic. They learn to take notes that extend their learning. Teachers coach students to ask complex questions that don’t have easy answers.

    • Students write and present their thoughts in a cohesive 2-4 page essay and meets US Common Core Standards

  • Phase 3: Sharing Expertise and Going Public

    • Students present their research and thesis in a 2–4-minute video presentation
