NCSU: New Mind Alumni Wins 2nd Place in E-sports Tournament
- Juliette and Penxiang share their thoughts on what’s it’s like as a member in the Esports club. On Mar 21-23 the club hosted a tournament for 5 different games with 6 collaborating universities across North Carolina.
- Prior UPP (a longstanding program at New Mind) student Penxiang plays the role of jungler on NC State’s League of Legends team, who won 2nd place overall!
- Congrats to all participating teams 🎉It’s incredible Penxiang can support his team in a 2nd language and manage his school work–no easy feat. The esports club brings together students who often primarily socialize online out into the real world to form lasting connections.
UNCW: Kayaking, Battleships and the Beach at Wilmington
Last weekend, our University Performance Program (UPP) at NC State took students on a much-needed break from academics and city life, heading to Wilmington, North Carolina for a day full of new experiences.
🌿 Kayaking at Greenfield Lake – For many, it was their first time paddling a kayak. From nervous beginners to confident paddlers, they embraced the challenge and were excited to spot turtles and birds along the way.
⚓ Exploring the Battleship North Carolina – Walking through the historic ship gave students a glimpse into the lives of past sailors, making history come alive in a way that books never could.
🏖️ Unwinding at Carolina Beach – Beach time was the highlight for all! Collecting seashells, playing Spikeball, and watching the sunset over the ocean made for a perfect ending to the day.
It’s always rewarding to see students step outside their comfort zones, connect with nature, and create lasting memories.
