A school where ambition meets opportunity—early access, increased acceleration, and ethical leadership.
Welcome to Global Academy | Guilford
Global Academy at Guilford College offers both academic challenge and cost-effective acceleration for families. Students may earn up to two years of college credit by age 18, making it possible to transfer to another university or complete a master’s degree as early as 21.
More importantly, students leave with a deeper understanding of their values, strengths, and goals. They gain clarity about what they want to study, why, and how they want to contribute to their communities. This is done through their specialized certificate in leadership, student development, and service, which strengthens their future university applications.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
What makes Guilford students so successful? Community service is a requirement for graduation, and rooted in values of stewardship and ethical leadership.
- Service on the college’s farm, food pantry, and clothing donation center.
- ESL tutoring and mentoring with refugee communities
- STEM outreach and robotics support
- Journalism, writing, arts, and research projects
By providing needed services, students can see the outcome of their work and contributions, empowering them with a sense of meaning.
Teaching-Focused Faculty &
Personalized Mentorship
The college is known for its deeply supportive, teaching-centered environment where everyone serves and is seen as equal. All must serve on a committee, where everyone is referred to on a first name basis rather than by their formal last name.
Global Academy students benefit from:
- Weekly 1-on-1 academic advising
- Biweekly language advising
- Leadership and personal development workshops
- Structured support with time management, community building, and academic habits
Tools for Success
Students have access to resources that support their communication and ease their transition to the U.S., including:
- A dedicated Writing Center
- Campus tutors and study hall
- VR mock interview labs to give students practice in safe environment
- The makerspace for printmaking, video production, and design
These tools help students express their learning in multiple ways—building confidence and professional skills.
Lasting Partners
This partnership is rooted in New Mind’s longstanding relationship with our former colleague, Sarah Munro, who now serves as Interim Director of the Center for Principled Problem Solving (CPPS) and Global Initiatives. A Guilford Early College alumna herself, Sarah brings deep institutional knowledge, thoughtful leadership, and genuine enthusiasm to the role, guided by a strong commitment to preserving Guilford’s values while expanding opportunities for international talent.
Global Academy at Guilford College looks forward to inviting it’s first cohort of students this Spring semester. We have interviewed many talented and high-achieving students and look forward to seeing how they make their mark on Guilford’s campus.
